There are several ways to reach Reading, including plane, train and car.

By air:

The closest airport to Reading is London Heathrow, which is located approximately 43 km (27 miles) from the town. The Rail Air bus service, leaving from Heathrow bus station, runs a regular express route to Reading's main railway station. A single ticket costs £18, while a period return ticket costs £26.50. However, an "early bird" return fare (that is to say: 60 days or more before the travel) costs £15.50. Therefore, if you are flying into Heathrow, we strongly recommend to buy your coach ticket well in advance! The service is available 24h a day.

The second nearest airport is London Gatwick, located approximately 66 km (41 miles) from Reading. The best way to reach Reading from Gatwick airport is by train. The direct local train operated by Great Western Railway reaches Reading's main station in 1h 20m. A single ticket costs £18.40 and an open return ticket costs £29.10. Advance reduced fares, however, may be available.

Those who fly into Luton or Stansted airports need to take a train to the stations of London St. Pancras and London Liverpool St, respectively. From there, the Tube takes into the station of London Paddington (Hammersmith & City or Circle Line). From Paddington, a direct train operated by Great Western Railway leads to Reading in less than 30 minutes. Please notice that in these cases the train fares may rise remarkably (you can compare train fares on National Rail).

By train:

As far as train services are concerned, Reading is favoured by its central position in South England. The two stations of the town are Reading and Reading West . While Reading West is mostly involved in local services, the main Reading station operates frequent services to the rest of the UK.

The Whiteknights campus of the University of Reading can be easily reached by the main station in 15 mins. with the bus services 21 "Claret" or 21a "Spritzer", which run through the campus (stop: University of Reading: Whiteknights House) or 3 "Leopard" which calls at the main entrance of the campus (stop: Christchurch Green). Walking from the main station to Whiteknights takes approximately 40 mins.

Reading West is further away from the conference venue (roughly 1h walking). If you are staying near there, you may want to take a bus (15, 17) to the town centre and from there the bus lines 21, 21a or 3 to Whiteknights.

By car:

The Whiteknights campus is approximately 2.4 km (1.5 miles) from the M4 motorway. The closest entrance to the conference venue is located on Shinfield Road. Satnav postcode: RG6 6UR.
